Walkers and hikers are being advised of temporary closures on parts of the popular Cliffs of Moher Coastal Walk as essential safety and maintenance work gets underway. The Clare Local Development Company (CLDC) has confirmed that sections of the trail, particularly near Hag's Head south of the main visitor centre, are affected.

The work is a proactive measure to address trail erosion and ensure the path is safe for the large number of visitors it attracts annually. While the main Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience and its protected viewing platforms remain fully open, access to certain stretches of the wider coastal path is restricted.

Eoin Hogan of the CLDC has noted that the trail is "too close to the edge in certain sections" and that significant work is needed to move it further inland. Hikers planning to walk the entire route are urged to check the latest updates on the CLDC website and to respect all safety signage in place. These measures are part of the long-term Cliffs of Moher 2040 Strategy, aimed at sustainably managing the iconic landscape for future generations.
